Naval Petty Officer Derek Bailey went hiking with his girlfriend. He took her to the same spot as their first date. He had music. He had white tulips that she loves. He had blindfolded her for the final surprise, but someone got to him before he could propose. Derek had been abducted. His girlfriend didn’t see it because of the blindfold. She didn’t hear because of the music. She just thought he left. She thought he got cold feet and left her alone in the National Park. Tanya is a smart woman. She realized that Derek was working to proposing to her. He’s done it before. And she figured he left because he’s technically done that once before too.

Derek ghosted her once. He disappeared on her. Tanya was so worried that she tried to file a police report. She couldn’t because he had to be missing for over seventy-two hours and in that time Derek came back. He was all apologetic. He told Tanya that would never happen again. She took him back and she was regretting that after his second disappearance. She didn’t even bother looking for him in the park. She simply went home and planned on never taking him back again. Only this last disappearance was different.

The same for the marriage proposal. He tried to propose twice before in a spur of the moment thing. This third time he had a banner, sprinkled roses, a picnic as well as an actual ring. Tanya didn’t bother looking for it. No one else had found it since they’ve been gone. Tanya also never reported him missing. His work reported missing when he didn’t call or show up. NCIS were sent out to find him. They brought Tanya back to the park and she showed them where they had their first date. And they found romantic get up that was all set up for her.

The ring was even still there. Tanya said he must have finally been serious about proposing this time. NCIS joked about Derek getting cold feet amongst each other. Parker didn’t include himself in that because he suspected something else happened at that park. He had the team look into it. They eventually found a video of Derek’s abduction. His kidnappers recorded the video and posted it on the online. This was a problem because Derek worked in a special program at the Navy Yard. He could potentially hand over a very dangerous weapon to their enemies.

Derek was working on a device that would make their navy undetectable underwater. They wouldn’t be seen on radar by other navies or enemy combatants. If the tech behind the device gets stolen, then other navies will use it to hide their ships long enough to move into American waters. This could be a nightmare for their intelligence department. NCIS started looking for Derek. They later found who had taken him. Derek was taken by the Bold Ventures business. It’s a business that firmly believed in radical therapy.

They allow people to pay them to confront their worst fears. Derek paid for someone to kidnap him. He didn’t know when he was going to get kidnap. He also had to fill out a questionnaire before he was taken on as a client by Bold Ventures. NCIS went down to their offices. They went to the room where Derek was supposed to be held, but they found a dead employee inside his cell. Derek wasn’t where he was supposed to be. He was gone. There was a literal dead body and so NCIS feared that Derek had killed someone to escape his worst fear.

They were thankfully wrong about that assumption. Tanya has no idea why Derek would want to get kidnap. She thought maybe she didn’t know him as well as she thought. She just didn’t think he killed someone. She wouldn’t be having a baby with a killer. She told NCIS that Derek didn’t kill anyone. They found a syringe in that room and they tested it. It had Derek’s DNA on it. Derek had been abducted from his fake abduction. He was drugged to get him out of that room. Whoever did it must have been interrupted by the employee and killed him to get away with Derek.

What they couldn’t figure out was why Derek was actually abducted. They looked into his life. They found him accepting money from a billionaire and they thought he was selling Navy tech to the guy. He wasn’t. The billionaire proved to be Derek’s biological father. Derek’s parents had a brief fling for a few weeks. His mother went on to marry someone else a few months later. She and her husband died. Bailey found his mother’s diary in her things where she confessed everything and he went looking for his real father. He met him. They had a DNA test. And now they were bonding.

His dad even gave him the money for his engagement ring to Tanya. Davenport had no idea she was pregnant. He was excited about finally having a family and he admitted that he had been called after his son was abducted. The kidnapper wanted money. They wanted three million in an offshore bank account. Davenport was set to pay it when NCIS stopped him. They said there was no guarantee that he would get his son back if he paid. They wanted to look for the kidnapper. They were able to figure out who kidnapped Derek.

It was Mickey Steele. He works for Bold Ventures. He must have been a part of the team that followed Derek a week before he was taken and so he saw Derek meet up with his father. Mickey also must have realized that really kidnapping Derek was a huge payday. Something he would never see in real life. He took Derek. It took Davenport too long to come up with the money and so Steele got to Tanya. He figured Davenport would finally pay if his grandchild was threatened. And Davenport did.

He paid. He didn’t get back his son or Tanya. NCIS went looking for Steele now that he knew who he was. They found him because he turned his phone on. They were able to get to him and they saved both Tanya and Derek. Tanya also admitted that she used to date Steele. She said he was really angry after they broke up. She thought that Steele was doing all of this out of revenge. Steele was killed by NCIS. And Tanya played the victim, but they didn’t believe her story and they got Derek to get her to confess.

Tanya was never pregnant. She knew Derek would inherit billions as the only child of a billionaire. She arranged his kidnapping and she helped fake her own. NCIS later arrested her. And Derek felt so bad about the three million she stole from his dad that he thought his dad would be upset with him. Only he wasn’t. Davenport was just glad to have his only child back alive. Both men were also relieved that Tanya wasn’t pregnant because now they can move on with their lives.

And Torres admitted he has cheat days when he stayed with Parker and Parker got a little too crazy with a health kick.
