Roselands, NSW: Man stabbed to death in family park

Police are hunting for up to 10 people who could have been involved in a fight at a park that ended in the stabbing death of a young man.

The man, identified as Ghassan Mohammed, was stabbed during a fight at Leonard Reserve on Chapel Street in Roselands at around 9.50pm on Thursday.

He has been described as a “beloved brother” by loved ones.

Police and paramedics who rushed to the scene discovered a young man suffering stab wounds in the park. Despite efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.

A fight broke out between two groups of men, believed to be known to each other, according to Superintendent Sheridan Waldau.

“We do not believe it’s a random attack,” she said.

Ten men men were seen running from the park, and a trail of blood was found leading up Myers Street away from the park.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation into the man’s death.

“We know that there were a number of people there at the time and we know that they know what happened and there’s reasons why it happened,” Superintendent Waldau said.

“We are appealing for those people to come forward and give us that information.”
